The House of Learning is located in the First Nations Longhouse, a building
which reflects the architectural traditions of the Northwest Coast. There is

Indian Schools
From this page you can learn the history of Native education, including the
forcible removal of Native children from their homes and the creation of

This foundation says: "The loss of ceremonial material has prevented many

Assembly of First Nations
This Canadian organization of First Nations has consistently fought for
Native rights. Its website offers you articles, press releases and speeches,

Indian Taxation Advisory Board
The purpose of this Canadian all-Aboriginal Board is "to assist First

Northwest Ordinance
The area northwest of the Ohio River was once forbidden to settlers. In 1787
the Northwest Ordinance was passed by Congress setting up the eventual
formation of five states and, in effect, gave away the land occupied by

Potlatch - The Nemesis of Assimilation
Read the study which investigates the role of the potlatch in west coast
(Canada) tribal societies. You'll learn how it was banned by the British
Columbia government (Potlatch Proclamation) and about the reversal of that
