Buffy Sainte-Marie

Buffy Sainte-Marie is an Indigenous Canadian-American singer, songwriter, musician, visual artist, and social activist known for using her career to focus on issues facing Indigenous peoples. Some of Sainte-Marie's most well-known songs include "Universal Soldier," "Until It's Time for You to Go," and "Now That the Buffalo's Gone." In 1983, Sainte-Marie became the first Indigenous person to win an Oscar. She has also received a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
