Tracey Deer

Tracey Deer is a Mohawk Native American and prominent Canadian screenwriter, film director, and newspaper publisher. Deer's five-season TV series "Mohawk Girls" earned her the Alanis Obomsawin Best Documentary Award at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival. Additionally, Deer has directed and written several award-winning documentaries for the Aboriginal-run production company Rezolution Pictures. In 2008, Deer was the first Mohawk woman to win the Gemini Award for her documentary "Club Native."
